Digital Distribution - Interstellar (2014)

Instead of just Interstellar having one person to distribute its film, it had two distributors, where Paramount Studios distributed the film domestically in America, and with Warner Bros Pictures distributing it internationally across the globe. Paramount had created a website on Facebook which features a 360 degree landscape with only the words "The Answer Lies Above Us" in it. It turned out that it showed something different depending on the time of day, suggesting about the Apollo 11 moon landing.

Also part of it's advertising to spread interstellar, the makers worked with google in further promotion with the techniques by the software developers. The recreated the website into a more interactive place where people could view information about the upcoming film as well as play a game where one builds their own solar system. Paramount had also later used the website to create a virtual reality experience of the endurance spacecraft for the Oculus Rift.

The film had also released with three teaser trailers and then one official trailer. With the first teaser having clips of space exploration. It became the most viewed trailer of 2013.
Although it wanted to be released out into theaters on film, like many other films, it was released on the usual digital format as well as on DVD and Blu-Ray.
